City of Tuningen

The municipality of the city of Tuningen in Baden-Wuerttemberg was the first in Germany to switch its street lighting completely to sensor controlled LED-lighting technology. 120.000 Euro funding was received from the The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB)

City of Torbay

In 2014 around 19% of the electricty costs for Torbay Council (Devon, South-West England) were attributed to street lighting. The council decided then to conduct a large LED street lighting replacement project in partnership with the UK public sector funding specialist Salix, combining an interest-free loan and money from an existing recycling fund to cover the £515,000 up-front cost. In 2015, GE Lighting was awarded the contract to perform the installation following a tender process.

City of Nørreport

Every day, 250,000 people pass Nørreport station in Copenhagen, Denmark. The new LED lighting has transferred the station from a long narrow island between busy streets to a well-functioning public space with intuitive wayfinding leading the train passengers from the streets to the platform staircases. Good and glare free general lighting provides a feeling of safety and security. The new identity of the station is enhanced by the 13 large ventilation towers that calmly light up at night and by the decorative light dots in the bicycle parking.
